The day of Home Economics revision will focus on the food science element of the course to begin. We will clarify the chemical structures and properties of the three macronutrients – Protein, Carbohydrates and Lipids.
We will then link key elements of the various food commodities to the macronutrients before a brief overview of the micronutrients (vitamins and minerals).
We will end the day with analysing data in long question 1, section B of the exam paper and apply our learning to other exam questions.

Rosa is a native Spanish speaker. She’s been living in Ireland for the last 30 years and has a vast experience as a teacher at all levels.
Through the years she has gained expert knowledge of every aspect of the exam and marking scheme. Rosa is passionate about the Spanish language and is totally committed to the success or her students.

He was a member of the Physical Sciences team from 2001 to 2003 and served as National Coordinator for Chemistry with SLSS from 2004 to 2009, and as National Coordinator for Chemistry with PDST until 2020. Together with a small team he led the delivery of all DES Chemistry in-services throughout the length and breadth of the country.
He also has over twenty years’ experience as an examiner for the State Examinations Commission. Awarded the Science Educator of the year 2018 for his services to Science education in Ireland throughout his long career.

Conor holds a first class honours Degree in Bachelors of Science with Concurrent Teacher
Education from University of Limerick. He has also completed a Masters in Educational
Leadership in University College Dublin. Conor has taught Leaving Certificate Agricultural
Science for the last number of years with students obtaining the very best results.
Eoin has a B.Sc. in Mathematical Science and a Ph.D. in Numerical Analysis.
His teaching style emphasis encouragement over criticism. His goal when teaching is to ensure the students develop a deeper understanding of how mathematics works over rote learning of rules.
